Villa With Designer Pool In The Nature Of Southern Sardinia
1960s property of 400 sqm in the private complex of Santa Margherita di Pula in a 1,200-sqm garden
Property featuring an original flower-shaped layout, a figure-eight-shaped swimming pool, and a beach tennis court
Set in the exclusive surroundings of Santa Margherita di Pula, one of the most prestigious areas in southern Sardinia, this 400-sqm villa is a 1960s estate that has been transformed, through a complete restoration, into a home with a very strong architectural identity. Designed by engineer Mario Dal Molin, the two-storey property comprises five bedrooms and four bathrooms and boasts a flower-shaped layout: the organic-shaped wings house the large loggia, the barbecue area and the dining room, opening out to reveal the entrance and envelop the garden. The private garden, covering approximately 1,200 sqm, is extraordinarily lush and varied, thanks to the area’s subtropical microclimate: in front of the entrance lies the figure-of-eight-shaped swimming pool, edged with white limestone slabs and lined internally with blue mosaic, flanked by a sun terrace equipped with sun loungers, chaises longues, white daybeds, small tables and wicker pouffes. The beach tennis court completes the sports facilities in the outdoor areas.
The loggia, elegantly punctuated by pointed-arch openings, acts as a transition between the garden and the house: divided into two areas as an extension of the adjacent interior spaces, it houses the conversation area with large nest-style armchairs. The dining room is furnished with a rough-hewn wooden table on a wrought-iron frame and small armchairs. Attention has been paid to every last detail: the handles carved from a sea stone set in wrought iron, the embossed starfish decorating the frames of the French windows, and the works of art distributed throughout the rooms.
On the first floor are two spacious double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, offering an atmosphere of tranquillity and seclusion.
The basement holds the villa’s most intimate and surprising feature: a mini pool surrounded by cushions, candles and lanterns, and crowned by a large handcrafted iron and glass chandelier. The décor evokes the villa’s seaside and Mediterranean setting with small fish-themed sculptures and objets trouvés from the nearby beach. The floor also houses the building services rooms.
