Located in the Porta Romana area, one of Milan’s most refined and sought-after residential districts, characterised by elegant early 20th-century architecture, tree-lined avenues and a quality of urban life that the city centre can no longer guarantee, this 205-sqm apartment is on the third floor of an elegant Art Deco building with a concierge service and lift.

The property is the result of a commission by architect Hannes Peer: one of the most original voices in international interior design, capable of creating atmospheres that do not belong to any recognisable style but immediately feel like his own. The project has created a vibrant and eclectic living space, conceived as an urban alpine retreat: an imaginary chalet resulting from the fusion of the clients’ Northern European and Mediterranean roots, making the property a complete and unique work of art.

The entrance, defined by a curved layout and clad in wooden panelling, leads gradually into the living area. The rooms are arranged in an L-shaped layout that opens successively first from the entrance and then onto the living room, conversation area and dining room. The spaces interact harmoniously, partly through the bespoke furnishings, such as the mahogany-stained birch and brass bookcase that punctuates the space without interrupting its visual continuity. 

The bespoke kitchen in brushed brass and Rosso Levanto marble is the material focal point of the living area: the surfaces alternate warm and cool textures through the use of eco-friendly resin and Lombard terracotta, defining the character of this apartment. 

The design of the finishes evokes a distinct cultural layering, rich in references to the history of 20th-century architecture. A concierge’s office, a lift, a balcony, and a cellar complete the property’s amenities.
