Noble Late-renaissance Apartment In Venice
17th-century apartment with a garden for sale near Ponte Longo in Dorsoduro
Antique period estate woth wonderful views of the Giudecca Canal, along the Fondamenta Zattere
This noble, late-Renaissance apartment is for sale in one of Venice's most historical areas, offering a wonderful view of the Giudecca Canal, along the Fondamenta Zattere, close to the Ponte Longo in Dorsoduro.
This building is one of the most magnificent in the district and certainly the most notable of the Zattere, standing out with its majestic façade on anyone walking along its enchanting walkway, thus becoming a very recognizable landmark of Dorsoduro.
Originally built in the late 1600s on behalf of a noble Venetian family, precisely during the revival of Venetian late Renaissance architecture, this palace was purchased at the beginning of the 19th century by Prince Clary-Aldringen, who belonged to one of the most important Austro-Hungarian princely houses, who still occupies part of the palace today. Hence the name of this estate, known as Palazzo Clary.
Built in the 16th century, the structure underwent successive alterations during the 19th century, which did not, however, alter its unmistakable original style, typical of the Venetian revival. The structure itself follows the Renaissance design scheme on four floors: a hallway that gives access to the building from the Fondamenta, surmounted by two Noble floors, with a fourth floor above.
This second "noble floor" for sale has four lancet windows that surround a big closed loggia with four lancet windows, and features intimate reception areas. The rear U-shaped facade consists of two parallel wings that surround a big garden that ends on the canal behind it, with a richly decorated crenellated wall with arched doors overlooking the Church of the Ognissanti.
