Elegant 18th-century Estate Near Verona
Finely-frescoed period estate in the quiet Venetian countryside
Typical Venetian villa for sale with a barchessa, lemon house and private chapel
An elegant 18th-century estate, built by the noble Dionisi family, for sale in the enchanting rural frame of the Venetian countryside on the outskirts of Verona.
The villa is a precious testimony of the glorious past of the Dionisi, one of the most prominent families in the enlightened society of 18th-century Verona; immersed in the tranquility of nature and surrounded by a river that delimits the perimeter, it is a natural oasis similar to an island, along the main communication routes between Verona and Mantua.
Its characteristic architectural splendor, which today offers a wonderful venue for events, has been preserved thanks to a meticulous restoration work carried out over the years by its current owner.
Even the architectural layout, kept unchanged, follows the more traditional scheme of the Venetian villa, with a big reception hall in the center, accessible from both ends, and on the sides, arranged in symmetry, the various bright and spacious rooms.
The upper floor, in the same layout, can be reached via a sumptuous staircase, with a ceiling and architectural decorations painted by Giuseppe Montanari, a Bolognese painter-architect and a pupil of Ferdinando Bibiena. In addition to these paintings, the villa contains frescoes and paintings by the Marcola, present since 1743. The central hall is characterized by a vault frescoed by Gru and Montanari. In the rooms that develop around it, elegant stucco profiles harmoniously frame the doors, windows and portraits of the "gentlemen of the house", in a triumph of Rococo style.
According to the 18th century tradition, which provided for a place of worship in most of the country houses for the small community that revolved around them, a chapel was built in 1741, again by Montanari. The octagonal temple has four Ionic columns with neoclassical features on the façade. Inside, decorated with precious stuccoes and chiaroscuro paintings by Taddeo Taddei, the Baroque-style stucco altar stands out.
Immersed in a leafy six-hectare park is the barchessa, a characteristic architectural element of Venetian villas. Once used for agricultural storage, stables or food supplies, the building boasts an original arcaded structure with high round arches, recently enhanced during the renovation. Overlooking the lush front garden, this is the perfect place to organize pleasant outdoor refreshments. Adjacent to the barchessa, the big gazebo is ideal for continuing the celebrations of exclusive events.
A further meticulous renovation work involved the winter garden, formerly dedicated to the cultivation of fruits in the colder months, now home to a refined restaurant room with a wonderful view over the verdant park, which is embellished with statues of the famous sculptor Muttoni and a fountain.
The splendid frescoes that adorn the halls of the villa, the large outdoor spaces dedicated to hospitality and its perfectly equipped conference rooms make this splendid historical estate for sale near Verona the venue of dreams for organizing private ceremonies and corporate meetings in the name of uniqueness.
