Milan is of Roman origin but still maintains more ancient memories, with connections to the Celtic population which left deep and doubtless cultural signs even before the Roman domination.
The surrounding area has many torrents that, since the beginning of time, have produced deep depressions and undulations, and it features very large green areas, embellished by popular villas.
This area was also the setting of many fierce battles, which reached a climax with the destruction of Milan and its surrounding communes by Barbarossa; it then became an important commercial intersection during the 14th century thanks to the main road leading from Milan to Como.
During the 16th and 17th centuries, several noble estates were built, dedicated to amusement and distraction from town life: these, over time, became the centre for the reorganization of the agricultural land into great businesses, some of which still exist today and are of timeless value.
In that same period, many rich and noble families started to spend some time in the Brianza area, which is renown for its tranquillity and extant green areas where we can have direct contact with nature.
