Tuscany Grosseto

Poggio Murella is an hamlet of the town of Manciano and it is dated back to the XVIII century. Later on it developed thanks to the families of the shepherds who worked in Maremma.
The origin of Manciano are dated back to the year 1000 and later it became a land tenure of the Aldobrandeschi family who ordered the construction of the fortress that today is the seat of the municipality. During the XIV century it was conquered by Orvieto and then it was under the heel of the Orsini family of Pitigliano, succesfully it became part of the grand duchy of Tuscany.
The historic centre, characterised by a medieval style, is rich in monuments and buildings such as the big Church of Saint Leonard, in which there are some important artwork, an example is the picture that represents the patron saint of the city realised by Paride Pascucci. In addition, the city presents the Clock Tower, the Church of the Saint Annunziata and the Communal park where there is the statue of Pietro Aldi, another local painter.
